Lump in side of neck, really scared

Hello,
I have had a lump in the front left-hand side of my neck that I first noticed last July (~10 months ago) and which hasn't gone away since. It is pea-sized and firm and is positioned and feels like a swollen lymph node. Since reading the nhs pages and on here about neck lumps that don't go down, I have become really scared about it. I have booked in to see my GP but they can't see me for a couple of weeks and in the meantime I'm terrified that I have left it much too long before having it checked and that there will be really bad news. I don't know what to do and am trying not to panic.
Thanks for reading.

  • I'm not saying what you have is cancer, I'm just going to say what my dad went through. He had something similar and he had that lump for a couple years until treated. It was a simple procedure and afterwards he was cancer free. No chemo, nothing. I hope this helps :)

  • Hi Chloe,
It's so good to hear your dad's treatment went so smoothly! And reassuring to hear such a positive outcome when he'd also had his lump for a while - thanks for telling me :)
Being on here is helping to keep the anxiety in check a bit (not true for googling!)
