Think I may have bowel cancer

Hi everybody. I didnt know where to post and have no one to talk to. Ive had a lot of issues over the past 4 years. It all started with bloating which came from nowhere. I started off feeling bloated a couple of days a month and now it's everyday and all throughout the day and night. Stomach cramps to which the pain has significantly intensified to the point everyday I am in a lot of pain and discomfort. I have constant gas day and night. This can become very painful and interferes with daily tasks alongside the bloating and abdominal cramps. My bowel habits have completely changed. I either have very loose stools or diarhea. A few months ago i passed alot of blood from my bowels. I didnt feel any pain but there was a considerate amount of blood in the toilet. I feel nauseous on and off which comes from nowhere then will go. My gp has been putting all my symptoms down to ibs but he did say the blood isnt a symptom and could be piles. I have been getting excruciating worsening back and spinal pain to which my gp sent me off for blood tests. My results came back as very low on iron and vitamin b12, my hemoglobin level was just 5. The lowest it has ever been was 9 and that was during my pregnancy. I went yesterday to speak to a different gp who said my hemoglobin was very low and asked if I had lost any blood from my bowels. And also asked if I'd had any change in bowel habits. He sounded very concerned and said I need to have my bowels investigated. I guess I've already made myself believe I have bowel cancer as my symptoms are getting worse and worse. Everyday I am in pain and discomfort with abdominal cramps, gas and bloating. Im 26 years old and have 3 children. Please could i hear some stories of others symptoms. My next gp appointment is 3/6. Thanks alot xx

  • Welcome to the forum K92 although I'm sorry for the reason you are posting.

It's always a bit scary when being told your symptoms will need to be investigated but fingers crossed it will provide you with some answers soon.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in similar situations will pop by to share their experiences with you but feel free to have a look around and join in on other discussions you find that may be related to yours by using the 'search forum' option in the blue bar above.

Do let your doctor know if the pain becomes unmanageable as they should be able to provide you with something to relieve this.

Fingers crossed all goes well at your next appointment K92.

    Kind regards,
