Abnormal mri, lesions and blood pooling

I have suffered from on and off sciatic pain, or what I thought was that on and off for over a year now. Finally had an mri and got the results today- thinking I’d be told nothing to worry about. However I’m now totally freaked out as the doctor said there was blood pooling and lesions on my spine. So have been sent for urgent blood tests and another mri. Doctor says try not to worry but I lost my dad to lung cancer which spread to his spine so I’m now really panicked. Doctor asked if I coughed up blood or night sweats- I have neither. I’m 41- should I be worried, or is this just precautions?

  • Hi Lisajayne and welcome to Cancer Chat.

I'm sorry about the results of your MRI but like your doctor has said, try not to worry if you can. As our members here on the forum have found out, that is a lot easier said than done but having been through this process themselves they understand how you're feeling and hopefully some of them will be along soon to offer their support and advice.

Fingers crossed the next set of results show this isn't anything sinister.

    Kind regards,
