New

Hi all I am a 51 year old male for the North East of England and was recently refered for a colonoscopy after a change in toilet habits.

During which they found a polyp around 2cm in size.  They took a biopsy, I have since had a CT Scan and am booked in for a MRI Scan for the lower rectal area.  I also received another MRI appointment this time to scan my liver.  I must admit I am really starting to get worried is this just being thorough or do you think it is far more sinister?

I have my consulant appointment on Friday at 9:30

It is really difficult to get any information on procedure nobody is willing to talk I suppose for obvious reasons, I know it has only been two weeks but the waiting is excruciating I just really need to know.

Regards

Paul

  • Hi Paul, obviously you're worried but this is normal procedure.  They gather all the information together, have a panel meeting to discuss the results then you will receive an appointment to tell you the final result.  So hang in there, keep busy and just get through each day then you will know soon what is happening.  I'm in the North East too, welcome to our friendly helpful forum.  Carol

  • hi Paul

I can understand your worry, I don’t have any experience regarding the areas your having scanned, however I was referred for breast cancer and had a similar experience,  CT scan, MRI and a bone scan. They then meet as a multi disciplinary team to review all of the information they have available.

The waiting is the worst part as I think naturally your brain goes to the worst case scenario. Try and keep yourself busy, and don’t google anything, there’s loads of info on this site.

I hope that it’s a good outcome for you.
