Another waiting game

So I have posted before about my mum being tested for bowel cancer.

She did the poo sample and blood tests which came back as abnormal and she was told she would get a phone call in 2 weeks to go in for the camera.

She then got a letter to see the consultant at the colnectral survey. No mention of the camera.

She had her appointment last Thursday with the Consultant he did a tummy examination which was painful for my mum, then did and internal examination which he couldn't complete due to being too painful for my mum and the consultant felt a lump.

He as then said that she needs to come in and be sedated for the camera and to also have a full CT scan done. Which she should get a letter in the post for within 2 weeks.

We were hoping to get more answers last Thursday and he wouldn't say much to my mum even when she asked what he thought he said we will see after the camera and CT.

Anyone gone through this yourself or with family and what was the outcome?

Im finding it as I live about 300 miles away from my mum so not like I can just take the day off and go see her

  • Hi Tinkygal,

I'm sorry to hear about this and the experience your mum has been going through. I'm sure the uncertainty is incredibly difficult for both of you and it must be hard living so far from your mum.

I hope she is able to get the next appointment soon and then hopefully you will get some clear answers at that point. Perhaps the doctor didn't want to say anything too much without full certainty and tests being done.

If anyone on this forum has been through something similar then hopefully they'll be along soon to share any experiences.

Wishing both you and your mum all the best, and I hope you can find out more soon. Do feel free to let us know how you get on.
