Biopsy results

Hi. For the last 15 months I've been having trouble with my periods-heavy bleeding, bleeding for 10-21 (longest 11 weeks) days then not bleeding for 4-11 days then bleeding again, fatigue, moodiness and pain. My smear came back clear but a fantastic doctor looked into me further as previous doctors hadn't. After a scan it's shown cysts (which I've had before) I've been to see gynecologist last week who has done 2 biopsies. Due to my age 42 my family history my mum and 4 of her sisters have had ovarian or cancer of the womb and also because of my symptoms.

The doctor told me 6-8 weeks for results but they've sent me a appointment which is 11 weeks. When I rang they said this was the first appointment and I had to wait till then. Is this normal and means they're not too worried?

Thanks

  • I noticed you haven't had a reply yet Kelly so I just thought I'd stop by to say hello and welcome you to the forum.

I'm really glad you found a doctor that was willing to investigate your symptoms in more detail although I'm sorry for the impact cancer has had on your family.

Many of our members have had to wait longer than first thought for their results so will understand your thought process at the moment so fingers crossed some of them will reply soon to offer their support and advice.

It'll be tough, but try to stay busy and distract yourself with pleasant pursuits if you can as it will help you whilst you wait.

    Kind regards,
