MRI for ovarian mass

Hi,

I had an ovarian mass found on my left ovary on a ultrasound scan after being referred by my gp for pain during intercourse, backpain and nausea. I was then referred to a gynaecologist on the 2 week scheme, they decided to do an mri scan which I had yesterday, I was wondering two things, firstly how long should it be before I hear anything and also I was not injected with any dye (contrast medium) is this normal when looking at suspected tumors on the ovary? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

  • HI Jinx and welcome to the forum.

The team who carried out your MRI will be able to give you a rough idea of when your results will be back so do try getting in touch with them next week to find out.

We have some information on our website about MRI scans which I hope will answer your second question but you're more than welcome to discuss this in more detail with our cancer nurses next week. They'll be available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on 0808 800 4040.

I hope you don't have to wait too long for your results and that they bring good news when the time comes.

    All the best,
