I have been suffering with headache persistently for 3 months. I have gone to my GP multiple times regarding this. They have not been much help and have said it’s only a tension headache that was caused by stress I was told to rest and take over the counter medication. It has gone to the point where I really can’t take the pain anymore, it’s effecting everything I do. The pain is all over my head and recently it went from being a dull pain to being a really sharp pain in my head. I have been having neck pain aswell as nausea and vomiting. No sort of medication has been helping. I am worried that is could be a tumour in my head. I really can’t take the pain anymore it’s persistently there from when I wake up to when I go sleep.

  • Have you thought it could be migrane it can be caused by things you eat my wife had it for years then we found it was cafene in coffee and chocolate but it can be anything just a question of trying without something for so long.

Billy if you are not sure go to GP

  • Hi there ..

No one should be having headaches for that long .... if I were you I'd ask for a different G P and insist firmly, you want a scan ... yes it maybe o.k fingers crossed ... but years ago, my friends mum had the same long list of headaches and other pain ... her Dr kept saying she was wanting attention and gave her anti depressants .. a few months later after being admitted to A and E ... they found it was far from seeking attention ... and in her case serious ...

Don't panic, as theres lots of things it could be .. but it's your heath .. you know when it's not right ... so gentle firmness ... don't be fobbed off ... my friend wished she'd insisted for her mum ..

Let us know how it goes ...  Chrissie x

  • Thank you for your reply. I will definitely go back to my GP and ask them for a scan.

  • Hi- I’ve had headaches for months and I went to the drs In feb regarding them as I was getting them daily - my dad has had brain surgery in the past for aneurysms and I thought it could be this - my dr spoke to a neurologist who said she was confident it wouldn’t be that ans said i was getting cluster migraines - she prescribed me with amitripaline tablets which I take daily and although I still get headaches often they are no longer daily - I was diagnosed with breast cancer end of feb so my headaches now could just be the stress of that but the tablets were definitely helpful in my case so maybe you could speak to your dr about them - my dr also advised when I do get a headache to take Ibrufen instead of paracetamol- hope your headaches are sorted soon x
