Cervix cancer

Hi, I have left sided pedunculated fibroid of 9cm

I went to doctor to remove it he referred me to Pelvis ultrasound, the results showed a possible polyp of 1.8mm surrounding fluid, the genocologist referred me to do MRI to see the origin of the polyp on my cervix ,I did MRI ,the radiologist found a mass of 5 cm in  the cervical canal composed of altered blood ,he suspects the finding a large haemorrhagic nabothian  cyst ,the doctor rang me up saying that the results are fine and not to worry when I visited him in his clinic he told me that he referred me to oncology département to get more investigated he told me that 99/100 the cyst is non cancerous but wants to make sure 100/100,I am now worried as if it was ok why reffered me to oncology in two weeks which means urgent appointment,? Can MRI make a difference between cancerous and non cancerous masses ,I am just worried

  • Hello Nanonina,

It sounds like your doctor is being extremely thorough in carrying out these additional investigations. Try not to worry too much as your doctor's words were very reassuring and hopefully it won't be long now until you find out more from your MRI results. It's good you have such an attentive doctor who wants to be 100% sure.

We have some detailed information on what the MRI does and how it works on this page

I hope you won't have to wait too long now and wishing you the best of luck for your appointment.

    Best wishes,
