Lump in partners neck

Hi guys my partner has lump on bottom hairline, doctor said its nodule lump I worried because my partner starting to look unwell tired all time, breathless, persistent cough, etc so I insisted that she have a ultra sound.. Too which gp was still not worried did agree but made it non urgent! Today lump is much bigger and now viable... I'm so worried?? Anyone had similar experience.. Should I pay private for scan to be quicker?? Thanks Emma x

  • Hello.

You could pay but will need a referral from a gp or health professional. I paid for a private scan on my cervical spine. To give you an idea of cost, a 1 area MRI scan will be about £400/500 private. An ultrasound will be cheaper. You will need a consultant view as to what scan is needed.  Its a tough call to know what to so. Whatever you decide you have my very best wishes.

  • Hi Emma,

Personally I think you should go back to GP and outline your additional worries and concerns over increase in lump. I know where you are coming from as it took me 4 visits to GP to get a referral and its frustating.
I would ask that you be refrerred to ENT so ther can have a look with scope maybe and have a more detailed look rather than a quick glance and feel from GP. Hopefully its nothing and majority of cases turns out to be that way but first you need some re assurance and also to get to the bottom of.

    Regards
