I fully agree with Ginpo. I understand that you don't want to worry family members and that you'll soon have your exams coming up. However, you are better to be sure rather than sorry. Doctors deal with all body parts without thinking twice about this. If this does turn out to be something untoward, the sooner it is seen to, the better the outcome is likely to be.

Hopefully it is nothing sinister, but please get it checked out soon.

David I just checked . Once you turn sixteen it is your legal right to go to the doctors without parental guidance. So make that appointment today . Making an appointment can be tricky you may have to wait for one so I would say it’s an emergency & you would like to be seen ASAP . Keep in touch Ginny

I hope so too. It's always better to be safe than sorry. I agree that it's a pity that he cannot confide in his parents, but at least he is old enough to get this investigated himself. It is coming at one of the worst times for him, with his exams looming.

We are showing interest because we know how quickly it can advance. If this does prove to be cancerous, then the sooner it is seen, the better the outcome should be. You cannot afford to ignore a lump like this, even though this is a busy time for you.

I beg you not to ignore it any longer and, to get it seen to as soon as you possibly can.

Told my mum and she’s said she’d book an appointment but now I feel bad because she looks upset and I feel guilty. Nice.

Well done! I'm glad to hear that you have told your mum. As a mum myself, I know that I would have been upset if my son couldn't have confided in me about something like this. I'm sure that she would have bee more upset if you just told her the findings afterwards.
