Sassy, Great news.  I was speaking with a heart consultant the other day and mentioned to him that I had an appointment with the breast clinic and why.  I also said my breast was a little painful.  He said well thats good news as if it hurts, good chance the lump will not be cancer.   The other thought is that you are right these people are experts.  They feel breasts lumps every day, so very experienced.  If you really are still scared, you can always ask for a mamogramme and that would give a full look inside your breast.   If your GP will not forward you on, then there is always the private hospital that will give you a well women review which includes a mamogramme.   But that said, the breast clinic will know what they are doing and at your age the breast can get very tender and painful and be quite lumpy on some occasions.
