Shadow on right lung

hi Im Sam 29 year female from West Midlands

A little concerned since the beginning of December 2018 I have had problems with my chest I thought this was due to my asthma so I’ve been to the doctors give me antibiotics for 14 days that didn’t help so they give me steroids for 14 days and then had a further chest x-ray because nothing was working and in February it showed quite a big shadow on my  right long it’s only been a year since my dad passed away in asleep with pneumonia my mum has got alpha-1 deficiency which is liver and lung disease hereditary through her parents jeans so I’m just really worried and stressed out I feel like I’m not getting any help or answers from anywhere I’m back at the hospital tomorrow for another chest x-ray even though I had 12 weeks ago as well as one in February I just don’t seem to be getting answers and I’m really struggling I can’t sleep at night because lying on my back makes me cough all the time I’ve got For us and yellow phlegm constantly coming up for the past 4 1/2 months my chest is wheezing I’ve got pain and I just don’t know what to do anymore I have just got a feeling is cancer or lung Disease.

  • Hello Sam and welcome to Cancer Chat,

You've taken the right steps in getting this investigated and I hope the results of your latest X-Ray will come quick. It must be incredibly frustrating for you and I bet you are feeling exhausted with sleep deprivation. Do mention to your doctor that this is affecting your sleep and quality of life.

I really hope you get some definitive answers soon.

    Best wishes,
