Lump in armpit

hi all :)

not sure if I’m in the right place but I’m just after some guidance.

i found a lump in my armpit recently which was quite tender and large. Went straight to my GP who did a hands on investigation. She told me she thinks it is a cyst and gave me some antibotics and to come back.

i went back a week later with not much change to the lump..It is still painful and tender when touching. I have now been told that it will just stay there (for ever) which has threw me a bit.

Im wondering wether I should get a second opinion as I’m unsure if I want to have this just sitting in my armpit causing pain. I’m worried this could develop into something. I’ve had no scans or blood tests just a general feel of the area.

does anybody know if this is normal protocol for cysts?

Bit of background info, I do have a history of breast lumps but I have been told this normal for me.

Thank you in advance!

  • Hello Collo91,

I can appreciate that it must be worrying for you if you don’t feel that your problems are being diagnosed properly.  Unfortunately, we cannot help you get a diagnosis. Only a doctor can diagnose you. I think given your circumstances it would not be unreasonable  to get a second opinion so don't hesitate to make an appointment and get this lump checked again. You can find out more about this here

I hope you find the reassurance you need soon.

    Best wishes,
