hi my son is 12 years old on Easter Saturday he was tripped over playing football. He fell on his arm and couldn’t move it so took him straight to A&E. They did and X-ray and said we had to go to another hospital as they were specialists. I was a bit baffled as I thought he may have sprained his arm or dislocated his shoulder or something. I asked the doctor Has he broke a bone he just replied we needed to go to the other hospital as they are specialists. So went straight away they did blood test and asked a lot of questions about his health. They said his break was unusual and that they we’re going to do further tests. The next day the doctor told us there was an abnormality in his bone that has cause it to weaken so fractured easily. They did a chest X-ray that was clear. Said we could go home they were sending the X-rays to a hospital in the midlands as they need to see if it’s cancerous??? We had to go our local hospital last Thursday but they hadn’t got any results yet so have to go this Thursday. I’m just worried as I thought it was a minor sprain or something. The hospital put a sling support thing on his arm. I feel a bit left in the dark no one is really telling us anything. His paperwork says radiograph shows fracture through a cystic lesion of the proximal humeral shaft. I’ve asked how long he is going to be off school they reply a while. School have been on my case as they are very strict about attendance i had to take paperwork in to show why he is off. I don’t really understand what is happening if it’s something serious or if I’m just worrying. I thought when children have a broken arm they have a day off of week maximum. Don’t know what to think.
