Pre biopsy - Lymphoma?

Hey,

Just wanting some advice / whatever really I guess. I'll give you a little outline first so you have an idea of the picture. In August last year I found a lump in my groin but didn't really think anything of it. September I got pretty sick like cold and doctors thought I might have Glandular Fever (I did'nt). Still in December I was really tired and struggling with mental health so got put on some anti depresents. The whole Christmas holidays was pretty sick again, was sleeping loads and like tired all the time and like having throat problems (horse voice and massive tonsils), night sweats, feeling dizzy, throwing up randomly, pain in my body and that for no cause and that. In Jan the lump in my groin had got a bit bigger and found a second one near by the original one...so I went to see the doctor because not really enjoying feeling this ill all the time, so they said it might be my depression making me tired all the time. Being someone who I usually really active was a bit confused why I had been feeling so rubbish for so long. So went back again, Found it I’d lost 9kg since October 2018. Had blood test which showed high lymphocytes so sent me to the hospital where they did a chest x ray and more bloods which were inconclusive. I’d found more lumps in my neck (again lymphnodes), so my doctor then sent me to the infirmary to the cancer specialist...where they did more bloods - I got told I’d had glandular fever at somepoint in my life but no one had realised (how on earth didn't I know aha) - this time my eosphillia were slightly high, 5.2 I know not massive but whatever.  He then sent my for a CT scan which showed Asymmetrical tonsils and extra soft tissue in my throat...so he sent me to ENT to get there advice on it because he wasn’t sure what it was and wanted to get more info and results, so went to ENT where I had a camera down my throat which showed the tissue again as well as the asemeticy again, so she said I want to take your tonsils out and send them to haematology to see if it’s lymphoma shes 95% sure it’s not but unsure as hadn’t done the ultra sound yet or biopsy. Op date is Tuesday. She the sent me for an ultrasound where I found out that one in my neck is 4cm by 1.5 which should usually be 0.5 cm.

I've had my pre op and all, but am still dealing with all the tiredness, have found more lymphnodes in my groin as well as a few more on my neck. Last week I had some kind of fit thing but haven't had anything since? Not really sure the relevenace of that either...I had also been having a bit of heart burn and like feeling like my chest is burning. The top of my neck is painful / feels achy as do my arm pits could this be because of the lymph nodes or what? I'm clue less and only 20 so have some questions! On my op day is it worth telling them about these other symptoms which have come up since?

Thank you in advance for your replies,

Char

Ps. I've got like two tonsils on each side like a tonsil behind a tonsil if that makes sense?

  • Hello cheeky2803,

    Welcome to the forum.

Your specialist would need to know of any developments or changes since your last appointment so yes you should tell them of any other symptoms. They mentioned it might be depression and, although you said you are quite active, I thought I'd give you some tips here, which may help. There are some great tips in case you find things a little overwhelming. Please try not to worry too much and I hope Tuesday's appointment goes ok.

    All the best,
