Advice endometrial cancer

I just wanted to get advice really as a little worried. I had some irregular bleeding that started of as watery blood like spotting in between my periods around 6 months ago, then when on my period the bleeding was a lot heavy then normal, few months after that I started experience pain during and after sex, I was getting a heavy pain feeling in my pelvis when walking and then my bleeding got worse and had a period which lasted 15 days and was so heavy I was changing my pad like every half hour! I had a scan done and they said my endometrium lining was thickened but because they done this while on my period I had to have another 2 weeks later on that scan my endometrium lining was still thick measuring 11.6mm and they noted I had a well defined fluid area within the fundal aspect of my endometrium. But no defined polyp identified, I had doctors yesterday and they have advised that due to the results of my scan and my symptoms that I need to have an urgent referral to gynae and that they need to investigate cancer. I was just wondering if anyone else had similar symptoms to this and it was cancer or if it could be something else. Feel worried and they said urgent referrals are talking 2-3 weeks. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you xxx

  • Hi! I’m new on here and just posted similar. I’m so sorry you are going through this stress!!! I myself hav the watery discharge so I know how you feel. I was not supposed to be getting my hysteroscopy done till June!! But I called up yesterday and got a cancellation. As soon as you have an appointment with consultant ANY procedures you have you usually have to wait a few weeks but PLEASE call the department where your procedure will take place and ask if their has been any cancellations. Trust me, even worrying appointments like these, people cancel for one reason or another. I’m now in the horrible waiting game for results too. Sending you positive thoughts!!!

  • Hi Nikki,

thanks for your reply. I only signed up today as wanted some advice. When I went to the doctors yesterday I wasn’t expecting them to say what they said. I am really worried but at the same time I’m trying not to let it bother me too much until I know for sure. The doctor was really good but he didn’t beat around the bush so to speak and said that they have to investigate cancer due to my symptoms and the scan. I am only 33!!

  • hope everything goes ok for you Hun xx

  • you poor thing!! I am not a dr but I think they will send you for hysteroscopy. I was just reading through your post again and we actually have exactly the same symptoms. I also have no polyps which leads me to worry about cancer. BUT from what I’ve read, even if it was, it would be early so could be treated. But more importantly thickening of the uterine lining is not cancerous it just potentially (if left untreated) can lead to cancer. You are in the system and doing the right thing now! So please try not to worry!! Xxxx

  • Thank you! I’m trying not to worry. Think it was just a bit of a shock and thought I would just see if people had similar to me and what there outcome was etc.Do you also have the fluid! The pelvic pain can be so uncomfortable sometimes feels like a heavy feeling. My mum said to me that i have done the right think getting checked out in the first place as I tend to leave things as not to keen on doctors.  Xxx

  • god, I’m exactly the same!! I left it months!!!! Yes, the water was actually the thing that made me go to Drs!! And my pelvic pain is so severe I’ve been hospitalised and has even made me pass out. I’m 41 and I have children so if I have to say bye to my womb I think I would be ok. But that really only happens if it is something bad! I will keep you updated and please do likewise lovely! Don’t care middle of the night, if at any point you need to vent your stresses just message me. I find talking to family doesn’t help me because I’ve always been the strong one so getting my therapy on here and hopefully help other people xxxx

  • thank you so much means a lot. I hope all goes ok with you fingers crossed for a positive outcome. Course I’ll keep you up to date and same to you just message me for a chat or vent. I am the same I have 2 children so at least I was lucky enough to have them if it was worse case. I’ve read a lot of people’s posts on other sites and a lot of them said when they was diagnosed that is what they had to have done. My family are lovely but like you say hard to talk to. Thanks so much for chatting xxx

  • Awww we are lucky to have our babies!! Well fingers crossed for both of us!!!! Look after yourself!! And thank you! Will do!!!! Xxxxxxx
