Cervical cin3

Hi I'm 26 back last year I had my first smear test and had a lletz under local to remove it which got clear margins. Hpv wasn't found that time I went back for my 6 month check hpv and cin3 was found again and they said I have to have general this time that was back in January February time I was meant to have surgery today and also had 2 previous appointments all have had to be cancelled because I've had a cold that's bad enough for them to delay everytime now I don't have an appointment till the 29th of May is there any way it can end up stage 4 cervical cancer within a few months?? I'm really scared please anyone's advice would be appreciated

  • Hi Sammie

You have abnormal cells, and hopefully when you get your surgery they will be able to clear this for you. They won’t want you to go under a general anaesthetic while you are unwell with a cold etc.

What you should stop worrying about is these abnormal cells developing into stage 4 cancer in a matter of months. Cervical cancer is in any case a very slow growing cancer...it can take years and years to develop, not months, and at your last check you didn’t have cancer at all. You should be fine.

I do have cervical cancer, although I have finished my treatment now and have no evidence of disease. My cancer could have been developing over the last 10-15 years, but it hadn’t reached stage 4. I had stage 2 when I was diagnosed.

You are doing the right thing in getting smears and going back for treatment and hopefully your procedure can go ahead next month. Please try not to worry...I hope that everything goes well for you.

  • Oh sorry to hear that but I'm glad your okay now It can't be a nice thing to go through. I don't mean to sound dramatic about it its just where they said high risk hpv as well that makes me think the cells are going to grow extremely fast.

  • I feel great now! I know it’s scary hearing the words “high risk” but I see lots of ladies in support groups I belong to who have the same diagnosis as you and are treated very successfully without needing anything more done. Hopefully you will be the same.

  • That's brilliant. Oh that's good to know problem with me is my worst enemy Dr Google and it just seems to make things seem worse then they are. My worse nightmare aha.

  • Oh gosh-Dr Google will not be helpful! We could all have ourselves diagnosed with all sorts going by google. But lots of the information on there is incorrect or very out of date so it scares you more than it informs!

Stick to reading reputable sites like cancer research and if you keep in touch on the forum here there’s lots of help and advice. I hope you can feel a bit calmer about everything now.
