Hi his treatment shouldn't be to bad have a look at billygoat or woodworm to give you an idea do you have his gleason score, has he had any scans yet best wishes.

P.s more than likely it will be but its still a fairly low score a lot will depend on the gleason score.

If he is seeing his urologist, He migt say the c word is a possibilty. But mine was reluctant to give an opinion until after I had had a biopsy. They can then give a gleeson score. 

Once that is done and he had had an MRI or CT scan they can give more info 

If it has been cought early it is quite treatable these days. My PSA was 70 but after I had finished treatment it had come right down to 0.01 the lowest they can measure.

Thanks for the reply. There’s no Gleason test done. The urology appointment on Friday is the first one. He’s only just had his PSA result in. Is he likely to have a biopsy taken in his first appointment?

Thanks Brian, that helps.  I doubt he’s even thinking about it, who knows and I don’t know if I should even say anything just so he’s prepared for Friday. 

Hi I had some scans done first but it can vary how they do it (caution from finding high psa to biopsy took two months) from biopsy to treatment took another two months. It can depend on the results to how long it takes. Best wishes.

Thanks to you both. My dad had his appointment at the hospital this morning. His prostate is not as big as the consultant expected it to be. Dad has his MRI next Wednesday and he’s waiting for a date for a biopsy. Whilst dad is happy with the consultant, I’m quietly ruling nothing out until he gets his biopsy results.

Thanks for letting me know tell him the biopsy is more uncomfortable than painful. It can depend on how many they take, I had 6 from each side considering its the size of a walnut I wonder how much was left behind (oops wrong word) any way good luck..

Hi to you both.  Wanted to update here and maybe get further advice?  My dad has prostate cancer, he had this confirmed just over a week ago.  He has been prescribed hormone tablets, he is waiting for an MRI scan on his bones/  He will then have a series of injections, followed by radiotherapy.  Thats the basics of what I know.  Dad said they will hit the cancer hard with the radiotherapy.  He also said that the biopsy was very painful after it was done.

Just wondered if you could give me further information, if what my dad is going to go through makes sense to you?
