About 10 months ago I noticed blood in my urine after I had gone for a fairly strenuous run in hot weather it only occurred once and cleared up in a few hours. I went to my GP the next day who took a urine sample and ordered some blood tests, these both came back clear so the dr said he was satisfied it was caused by the exercise/dehydration as I am under 40, do not smoke and the blood did not return. This morning I again passed some blood in my urine, again it was after running but this time I had only been on a gentle 30 minute jog so don’t think this could be the cause. I did notice there was a slight stinging/burning sensation, enough to notice but nothing too uncomfortable. I have called nhs 111 who felt it was likely to be exercise haematuria but best to provide a sample to the GP just in case... I have very recently moved house so will need to register with a new GP before getting an appointment which I’m worried will take some time.
I know it illogical but I can’t help but worry that my original advice was incorrect and something nasty has been left unchecked for 10 months! Has anyone else experienced exercise induced haematuria? Is it really a thing, I can’t find a lot of info on it? When I go to my GP should I insist on more stringent tests?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
