Waiting on womb biopsy

Hello I had a biopsy and polics removed from my womb around 3 weeks now. And I am so nervous about the results they seem to be taking ages. I've been so I'll for a year now but much worse since Christmas and it has me worried sick as I have so many symptoms of womb cancer. I've been trying to chase results but nothing and everyone is telling me I'll be fine I would have heard by now if cancer. I have my routine checkup on may but as a single mum of 2 one being a toddler with her own rare genetic condition I just cant afford to wait.

How long did everyone have to wait till you got your results. Its stressing me out so bad.

Thank you

  • Hi

I waited three weeks for my results but it was over Easter last year and the consultant was on annual leave. I was told a phone call within a week if serious but I waited longer and was still diagnosed with low grade cancer. Results are dependent on so many factors, eg, how long tests take, whether a second opinion is needed and the hospital policy on giving results. The consultants secretartpy rang me with an appt to see him for my results and told me that it was policy not to discuss them over the phone or send a letter. However the information I was given in a leaflet contradicted that. Have you rung the consultants secretary? That’s usually a way forward.

And just as an aside. I was diagnosed in April 2018 and had a total keyhole hysterectomy. The cancer was then upgraded to 3 and I had another op to remove lymph nodes which thankfully were clear. I then had three sessions of internal radiotherapy in September. I attended my first follow up appt today and was told everything looked fine and no sign of the cancer. So treatment is available if the results are not as good as you’d like, I’m fine now.

Let me know what happens. I’m sending a virtual squeeze from my hand to yours and hope everything turns out well.

    Sundial
