Node excisional biopsy

Hi everyone,

just wondering if someone can help and share their journey or if they have had a similar. I have had fevers, weight loss (not dramatic but noticeable), night sweats and tachycardia. Haven’t resolved after numerous antibiotics etc. So, I was referred to infectious diseases for the fever - I have had a whole range of tests done for infections and viruses everything comes back clear. My bloods have been elevated with protein & LDH during this period. The only scan I had not had done was a PET scan, so, I had this done. Which showed abnormalities in my groin, my nodes were enlarged and pet avid, the left side has lower intake - the right side uptake was 6.8. I got referred for an excisional biopsy of the right node - I had this performed over three weeks ago, when I came round from GA they told me they had removed two nodes and sent one to Leeds ( as this would be faster) and kept one at the hospital I am under. I still have no results and we’re nearing the four week mark, anytime I ask the secretary how long results usually are from Leeds if it’s meant to be faster I get told she has no idea & she will email the dr.

Does anyone have a similar experience/ know long results should take?

Thanks x

  • Hi Alya19xo

I'm sorry to hear about all the health troubles you've been having.

It's really difficult to say how long test results might take as it would depend on so many variables. Have you spoken with your GP at all about the length of time you've been waiting for these results? It may be that they are able to contact the hospital to see how much longer things might take.

I really hope that you don't have to wait too much longer and that your test results come back with useful information to the team looking after you.

Do keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Alya19xo

I hope you might have had your results by now and hopefully good news.  If you are still waiting, I know totally how you feel; my results took 5 weeks to come back and then another week to get an appointment to discuss in depth.

I've now been told I've got a follecular lymphoma but it is slow-growing and at anm early stage.  So I am having to get my head around "watch & wait"!

    Fingers crossed for you!

  • Hi BevW62, unfortunately I have not heard anything as of yet, but the Easter holiday will of impacted upon this. It will be 5 weeks tomorrow :|. It is horrible waiting! . I’m sorry to hear about your experience and diagnosis; I’m glad they have caught it early and will now monitor you, but cannot imagine how stressful it feels.

Thank you, I’ll update you when I know! X
