Small breast lump

hi ,

4 weeks ago I found a small movable breast lump , left lower breast. Plucked up the courage to go to docs and been referred to breast clinic , appt in 4 weeks,  doctor thinks  it may be fibroadenoma am quite positive but still can’t help worrying . Just turned 50 and very healthy , slim , none smoker .  12 years ago I had a routine smear and results came back  gcin grade 3 and had  lketz procedure , follow with a cone biopsy , continued having annual smears for ten year and finally reach the end and had no other problems. Sadly last year I lost my mum aged 71 to lung cancer . Guess I am over thinking and coming up with all sorts and thinking the worst.  Trying to play this down with husband and family until I know for sure , hopefully worrying about nothing xx

    Hi Olliewillow,

A warm welcome to our community. I am sorry to hear about the breast lump you have found recently and, am glad that you have acted quickly upon discovering this. Hopefully your GP is right and it is just a fibroadenoma. Given your general health, even if there is something untoward, you should be better able to see this off.

I am so sorry to hear about your mum. I lost my mum to secondary cancer which had spread to her liver, lungs, brain and bones. Since then I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer myself and, like you came up with all sorts of horrific endings for myself. Regardless of previous history of cancer, it is common for most of us to think the worst. Waiting for tests and then for the results of these tests, is always one of the scariest times of our cancer journeys.

I sincerely hope that your results don't show anything untoward. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Olliewillow,

You might find it eaier to confide in someone, whether this is your hubby, your mum or a friend. You really need someone that you can talk to about this. It is also helpful to have someone with you at all of your appointments, but especially at those where you expect to get any sort of test results.

I presume you meant that your appointment is for 9th May, as the 9th April has already passed? I too have everything crossed for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
