I have the exact same thing and have had it for a few years (maybe more and I just hadn't noticed?) with no plans to go to the Dr about it as like you say your Dr said, it looks just like a burst blood vessel. Mine is raised too like a mole but purple in colour. I had previously done the same and googled it and it came up with some vulva cancer images - I can see how they appear similar but are a lot more irregular and extensive in their shape.
