Biopsy results I had my biopsy six weeks ago and it was very painful no pain meds offered the doctor was lovely with the procedure she was female so I didn't feel as embarrassed I was told I would hear the results by post,or by phone call I received a letter to see consultant for a hysteroscopy I am very worried about the procedure I know it is something you have to do to get the help you need it's the waiting that plays with your head
helllo just had cervical scan which was fine to me was not as uncomfortable as a smear test i had to have a biopsy for thickened womb lining which was really painful the dr and nurse were absolutely fantastic and very thrrough in explaining what was going on i strongly advise asking for gas and air for anyone else who has to to endure this it only lasts for few minutes thank god ,for me i felt so much more panicked having to wear a mask so im sure would have felt more relaxed with gas and air if its an option dont be afraid to ask please dont be a hero ,we women go through enough god bless ladies ps i initally went to doctors because i had started bleeding after 12 months im 52 i thought i was menopausal but actually perimenipausal i still had eggs there x
I had my biopsy 2 weeks ago with no pain relief the doctor was really good and did his best to be gentle. It was after the biopsy I felt real pain. Don't know when to expect the results I wasn't told anything at all
I'm still waiting also my anxiety is over the roof
I know how that feels
I had a biopsy on the first of June and am still waiting for the result
i have tried to get it hurried up by contacting PALS but feel like I am being strung along over the days and weeks
First I am told it's the pandemic causing delays and now I'm told there is a shortage of pathologists
In summary it's 'hard luck no one can help'
what particularly annoys me is that no one has spoken to me about the implications of this delay on my health outcomes.
you are right the anxiety is through the roof and I feel very alone.
part of me doesn't want the result because without it perhaps I can pretend all is ok and part of me is desperate to know so I can at least move on to dealing with whatever comes.
I hope we both get our results soon and that they are good outcomes
I had endometrial biopsy nearly 3 weeks ago. Today I phoned to see if any news yet. The secretary couldn't tell me exactly what's wrong but said no need to worry and something is showing benign. I still have the same pains though. Any idea what it could be? I'm 52 and menopausal but have read it could still be endometriosis. I know I should wait for the full results but its driving me insane waiting.
Hi
I don't know what it could be but it sounds reassuring that you have been told it's benign- I hope it gets sorted quickly for you and you can stop worrying

Could you tell me please how GA was going ? As I can guess, it was with intubation, did you feel any throat pain or breathing difficulties, or teethache afterwards ? I ask, because I didn't agree for hysteroscopy without pain management, so they offered me GA and I don't know what to expect really.
Hi, I had a Hysteroscopy and biopsy via GA 10 days ago and am happy to share my experience. After talking with a number of people and my GP i decided only route i would take was GA.
Let me start by saying i am was very anxious about the whole process and nearly chickened out more than once. I figured I could leave anytime so off i went for my 11am appointment at the local hospital Elective Day Surgery Unit.
I made sure the nurse staff knew I was anxious but I am sure they could see anyway! Everyone was absolutely wonderful, really caring and very kind. I was treated so well it was 100% better than i expected.
After a few general health questions and a meeting with the gynaecologist, no examination, but i was given plenty of time to ask ques. I changed into a gown and compression socks. I met the anaesthetist, he was very calming and reassuring, he took all my concerns into account and was so kind in his manner. I felt so much better after a chat with him.
They is a fair bit of moving from one room to another, then back to lounge for a sit , the time passed quickly but I can't stress enough how lovely everyone was.
I was collected by two nurses foe theatre, both excellent at distracting me and making me laugh! I went into a small room and was aked to lay on the bed for the cannula, the nurses chatted all the way through and it was all very fast paced with no time to get nervous.
One doctor put pads on to check my heart while the other put in the cannula. One sharp scratch that made me say ouch, a million less painful than stubbing a toe and over in a mano second. I was chatting to a nurse and next thing I know I wake up in a different room an hour later!
I did not have any reaction to the GA, i was actually rather loved up and kept say thank you! Once i was properly round, about 30 mins i was taken on the bed back down. My BP was check every 20 mins while I relaxed and fully came around. I was given coffee and toast, and made to get dresses and go for a wee. I was feeling good, i was nervous getting out of bed but was absolutely fine. I had a clot while in the loo but was told that was normal. I took pads with me but was offered one. I then went next door to a lounge and was told i could call my lift and go home after another wee.
I eventually left around 6 as I had a chat with the Gynaecologist first. I was tired and didn't fancy anything much for dinner, think we had a baked spud! I was really thirsty though. Absolutely no sore throat , no nausea from the GA, no breathing difficulties. I felt a period type cramp after and had a period type bleed for 6 days.
I recieved my results 3 days later by phone from the gynaecologist.
I am happy to report any horrors you are imagining did not happen, everyone was especially kind, caring and at no point was I judged for having a GA. Good luck x
I'm so grateful to you, Pam ! I've read your entire story, focusing on every detail. Yes, I'm very afraid, nearly in panic. Mostly of the thoughts that I will not wake up......I'm 65 and never ever in my life had GA, only IV deep sedation several times, all of them went with no problems at all.
As more reports from people I have, as more assured I feel. I know I MUST get through that procedure, I know it was horribly painful for me in the past and I don't want to have this experience again.
Thank you once again, I really needed it, I appreciate you devoted much time replying me.
