Hi, just had my biopsy today and doc has made an appointment for me to come back in 2 weeks to discuss. Did everyone get the results at an appointment or did they get a phone call before hand?
I had my biopsies 2 weeks ago and a CT today. An hour after my scan the consultants secretary rang to say they were waiting for my CT results before they made me an appointment and said he had a slot for two days time. I thought I was just getting a letter through the post so now panicking I have a face to face. I see your consultant said you would get an appointment so this has made me feel better. I hope everything is fine with your results. Thank you for listening.
I had a biopsy done a week ago and it was barbaric,i have never had pain like it and i was screaming and crying. They had to do it twice as the first one didn't get enough tissue.I still feel dirty and violated and have nightmares.I rang the hospital today and was told the letter i was meant to receive detailing the tests i had(i also had a trans vaginal scan)has not even been processed yet.Has anyone had a long wait for results due to Covid?
Hi Suemoo,
I'm so sorry your experience was so traumatic. I also had to have two biopsies and while it was painful the gas and air helped a great deal. Usually the biopsies take 10-14 days to be available, personally I just waited as I thought no news is good news. Everyone experiences things differently and it does sound like you may need to speak to someone for reassurance. Wishing you well.
I wasn't given the option of gas and air,I just had to suffer.I don't think these procedures should be carried out without sufficient pain relief and anaesthesia.I am barely functioning for worry.I have anxiety and this test has just made it 100% worse.
That's not good at all. I was offered gas and air and I think concentrating breathing that allowed me to focus. I was also offered local anaesthetic into my cervix which I refused I just wanted it over with. You would think that they would want you relaxed even if it's to make their job quicker and calmer both for you and them. Like you the first biopsy was not substantial enough as my lining was only 4.8mm. I do not think I could of had the second one without pain relief and you shouldnt if been put through that. I'd find out why gas and air isnt available. I can imagine you will go in armed with questions.
I am so upset and angry that i wasn't offered anything.I even phoned the department a few days before my appointment and they said i was just going to be having a discussion and a simple internal(which i can handle)but the internal scan and the biopsy were a nasty surprise.I will NEVER agree to a biopsy again unless it is under a general.I am still emotional about what happened.Afterwards as i was sitting doubled over in agony the nurse gave me a couple of paracetamol and ibuprofen. It just wasn't enough and i intend to complain to my gynaecologist.
I think we should be told in the letter go take analgesia prior to the appointment. I would write to the hospitals PALS their patient advice liaison department. Yes if I had experienced what you had I would ask for a general anaesthetic. If other pain relief was available the obvious question is why were you not offered it? At the begining I was worried that this thread would panic other women but it will result in patients being prepared and knowing what to ask for.
I went for hysteroscopy last Friday (5/3/21) and was shocked when oncologist gynaecologist suggested I had the mirena coil fitted as he highly recommended it for my case - he mentioned hyperplasia but I am awaiting his letter for full diagnosis
I said I was shocked and hadn't expected that and he said no pressure that he wouldn't do it that day and would give me information to consider it. During hysteroscopy he found a polyp in womb which has been removed for biopsy and he asked one last time if I wanted it fitted whilst he was in there so to speak - I was experiencing stomach cramps at this point in procedure and said that if it was his professional opinion that it was in my best interest then carry on and insert - done in less than a minute!!! Didn't fancy repeating procedure to insert off/when I'd read information
I have been told he will write to me with results of biopsy (not expected to be abnormal) and then I will find out what sort of hyperplasia I have.

Sorry your procedure sounded painful. I had a vulvoscopy a year or two ago and it was so painful, I was traumatised. I hadn't really looked into what it involved beforehand so it was my own fault. When it came to me having a hyscopothy and endometrial biopsy recently, I had this under general anaesthetic. It meant a long day at the hospital (day case) but I had some light cramping and thankfully knew nothing about the procedure itself. Awaiting my results. I had an ultrasound scan previous to the procedure where they thought they saw a 6cm fibroid. I didn't speak to the surgeon after the procedure but the nurse seemed to think there was no fibroid and they took the biopsy from the uterine wall. I'm so confused, I have no idea what's going on and I haven't been told anything.
Like you I have had a polyps removed and a biopsy of thickening womb lining have to go back in 2 weeks for results made the mistake of reading online which made me more worried like every else you think the worst now terrified incase it comes back with abnormal cells etc. I'm 69 and had bleeding due to the polyps. A botched job 18 months ago for same procedure resulted in him perforating my bowel leaving me with a permanent colonostomy now my mind is in overdrive for results is the biopsy usually ok
