Hi, just had my biopsy today and doc has made an appointment for me to come back in 2 weeks to discuss. Did everyone get the results at an appointment or did they get a phone call before hand?
I had this almost two and a half weeks ago and no news whatsoever. In fact the discharge from the day surgery was awful. I was told nothing and was quite shaken up after the hystercopy so couldn’t wait to get home.
Thanks for your reply, I would imagine that no news is good news. My doctor said he would have the results in a week, but made an appointment for 2 weeks. Just wondering if I will get a phone call beforehand!?
Hello
i had the same on Saturday - just biopsy, no hysteroscopy yet - apparently I have to have that next time. Can’t wait - not! It was horrible, painful, the doctor was cold and uncaring. No after care advice or follow up either.
Sending hugs - the waiting is hard xx
I would have liked to think no news is good news however, I have read cases on here where they waited weeks and had bad news I am being ridiculous as I am too scared to chase up the results. The mental thoughts surrounding cancer are awful
Hi all, thought I would join the group as I have been waiting on my uterine biopsy results for 9 weeks. Was a bit in the dark to the actual procedure than was going to be taking place on the day and was ready for jumping out the door after I got told my womb and ovaries are perfect, then the nurse made a grim face and told me no I you are not going yet as the next but is the most important bit. It was a really painful experience and should I have known what was going to be taking place I would have taken painkillers.. Anyway 9 weeks have passed and I have been worried terribly but probably like a lot of you terrified to actually make the call but did so 2 weeks ago only to get told yes your results are back I will hilight them to doctor and you should receive a letter in a week to 2 weeks!! I was taken aback I thought she would have been apologetic but no quite haughty in fact. The doctor was very business like after taking the biopsies and told me 3 weeks I should receive a letters. I will update if and when i receive my results
Hi
I had a hysteroscopy done nearly 5 weeks ago and have been waiting for my results and worried sick... I did like you ring last week to see if there was any news ( Ive been bleeding for 8 weeks and am 56)... the secretary told me my consultant was on holiday and will look at my result on his return next week... I know they must have lots of calls from worried people, but I really felt that I was just one of many people that ring enquiring!... I’m hoping that my results will be ok, but deep down I feel that the bleeding isn’t a good sign... I’m hoping I will hear something next week and hope like you not 3 weeks ... I just need to know what is all of a sudden caused me to bleed again after a break of 13 months without a period! Let us know when you get your results.
Hi
I’m new on here - I’m in a very similar situation and wondered if you’ve had your results yet?
I have been having random bleeds and spotting since the beginning of June along with lower pelvic and lower back discomfort. I was sent for ultrasound scans and hysteroscopy on 24th July where I was told my uterine wall is 18cm thick and I have 3 reasonably large polyps. A biopsy of the wall was taken at this time and referred on to have the polyps removed under general anaesthetic. Results of this biopsy would be sent to me.
I had the polyp removal on 2nd August and told that I would be told the results by letter.
So I’m waiting for 2 lots of results and I know it’s only been a couple of weeks since the op but I’m struggling to think about anything else! How long has it taken for others to get their results through? And if the results show anything will I also get an appointment at the same time?
sorry to sound so clueless, any advice will be so gratefully received!
Hi
I did get my results back as like you had uterine thickening and a very large fibroid found during the hysteroscopy ... My results took 6 weeks to come through which was agony on my mindset!... however the results showed no sign of cancer or serious disease, which was a huge relief I can tell you... I know its hard for me to say please don’t worry yourself about your results... I was informed by letter, which explained that they had found a large fibroid and removed it during the hysteroscopy and quite a large area of my lining, they had also removed lots of little polps and fitted the Mirena coil to stop my big bleed...the letter also stated that they will monitor me for 6 months ( as I’m still spotting) to see if it settles down if not then I will be have the 2 week referal again ( back to square one)... I do feel for you as I know how anxious it makes you having to wait, but yours may come through quicker... when I had rang the hospital rather anxious as 5 weeks had gone by, a nurse came on the phone and explained that they do tend to look at the priority results first and then work their way through... I wish I had known that at the beginning as wouldn’t have worried so much waiting. Let us know how you get on though x
Hi everyone ,
im still recovering from the shock I got today when at a Gynae appt during an internal scan the dr said he would do a endometrial biopsy there and then . I had been referred as my GP suspected I was peri -menopausal as since stopping breast feeding 15 months ago my periods have been extremely long and heavy and then stopped 3months ago. I have a history of fibroids which as per the scan today are all clacified and not causing the heavy bleeding. Dr never said one word about peri/menopause instead asking about family history of cancer . My question is tho- my last smear 12 months ago was normal and I had bloods done 2 weeks ago and GP said they were all normal for FBC/ Iron/ hormone levels etc . Would endometrial cancer show up in bloods? I was so shocked I never asked why he was performing biopsy and he never explained why . ? Annoyed with myself for not asking .
Hi mum23
I can understand why your feeling so uncertain and i’m Sure the test are just to rule out anything sinister.
Most visits to a gynae for your reasons usually have a biopsy done there and then, but some find it really painful and end up having to have a general anaesthetic like me...as with your other tests that have showed a normal reading, it sounds positive.
I had sudden prolonged bleeding which I had a hysteroscopy done to see what was causing it ( and a scan showed thickening of the lining)... after 6 weeks of waiting which nearly drove me insane, I was told I had a very large fibroid that was causing the bleed ( the scan I had didn’t actually show the fibroid just thickening)... I had it removed and the Mirena coil fitted and to be honest its virtually stopped the bleeding... will need a few more months before I’m hoping the bleeding will stop altogether!
Not sure whether endometrial cancer would show up in bloods, but I do know a biopsy would confirm it, but you may have to wait for the results.
I know how easy it is to not ask questions, as the shock of everything going on can make us shut down a bit... make an appointment to see your gp and see if he can explain more to you.
best of luck to you and the best advice I can give from experience is if anything shows up, the hospital will be straight on the case and do whatever is needed.
