Awaiting Biopsy results from neck of womb

New to site, no cancer diagnosis waiting for results to rule it out. However  very worried since end of last year having incontinence issues. Was getting itching and kept getting diagnoses has thrush, self medicating. Went to GP had swabs no infections found traces of thrush. But Id discovered a round small lump. In vaginal wall around size of a pea it does not move . Gp checked it says is probably a Cist. She rang and told me would refer me the hospital to have it checked. Did not go to hospital but recently had bleeds in between periods. Incontinence has gotten worse. Do suffer with pelvic and abdominal pain. Also heavy feeling  lower back and top of thighs around bottom area.

My main concern was lump and bleeds only spotting not heavy flows. Went back GP got urgent 2 week referral. Went hospital had a ultrasound vaginal scan also external pelvic scan. Went back to consultant had a internal and told would need to have 2 biopsies. Unfortunetly I couldnt tolerate the exam and was difficult due to not been able to find my cervix. I returned within the week. The consultant took a biopsie and then examined me . He told me is not really concerned something sinister, biopsy is only real way of known this so will be sent to labs. He thinks this small pea sized lump is a prolapse in my vaginal wall. Im uncertain has other doctor at surgery said is a cist. At 1st visit told me have fiboids yet 2nd visit said scan was fine. I know my womb was 6.5mm. The biopsy will be sent and does not expect any thing from it and will be discharged. But my symptoms didnt seem to be relevent to her. I will still have these. I didnt really take it all in has I found the biopsy very painful and uncomfortable. I also didnt realise the consultant can tell you results be fine before biopsy.

24 years ago I went for smear to be told my cervix looks very healthy. 2 weeks later recieved a letter went hospital had cin 3 was so severe they suggested I had cells burned away same day and also had biopsies taken. So I am thinking what she said to what was told back then and the prognosis was not good. I think Id have rather him told me nothing await results. Very anxious I cannot even recall how long told me when results would be back in. 4 days ago had biopsy still spotting and feel very sore like just giving birth and I have no energy what so ever. Anyone else had similiar experience. Also what was the outcome ? I didnt tell her about the incontinece assuming my gp letter did.

  • Hi Duggyfresh.

I'm sorry to hear about the problems you've been experiencing.

It can be overwhelming when going for an appointment especially if you're having a procedure done that you find uncomfortable. It's understandable that you're feeling drained after all you've been through.

Is it possible to make an appointment to see your GP and discuss your concerns before you go to the hospital for your results? It may be worth writing down any questions that you have for your GP/Consultant so that you don't forget to ask something that you feel is important. You could also write down the answers as we know it's really easy to lose track of things when you're overwhelmed with information. As you say if the biopsy comes back fine then that's great but you will still have these symptoms to manage so it's worth raising that with both the GP & Consultant to see what they have to say.

If you feel you'd like to talk to one of our team of nurses for some advice & support, then they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I really hope that you don't have to wait too long for your follow up and that you get some answers soon.

    Best wishes,
