Large mass behind uterus

I’ve been experiencing bloating and problems for a while and have just had a CT scan which showed a 14cm mass behind my uterus and between my ovaries. This is obviously really big and I’m pretty scared. I’ve had the CA125 already which is in the normal ranges and my age (34) works in my favour, but I guess they can’t rule out anything sinister at this stage can they?

It was suggested at the scan that it could be a fibroid on the outside of my uterus but again, cannot be confirmed without further testing and a referral to a gynaecologist.

I guess I wanted to know if anyone knew if a low CA125 could still mean that this is cancerous, and what the wait will be like to clarify this further?

  • Hi Lorien and welcome to the forum.

Your doctor or the team looking after you would be in the best position to answer this and any other questions playing on your mind at the moment, so if you can it may be worth getting back in touch with them to chat about this.

Our cancer nurses are just a phone call away on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m so do give them a call if you'd like to have quick chat with them about this too.

I'll have my fingers crossed that the other tests you'll be having will show that the mass isn't anything sinister.

    Kind regards,
