Severe Breast Pain

I went to see my GP in July 2018 about severe pain in my left breast I was told I needed to lose weight I’m 12st so for my height yes I’m overweight, anyway it got worse went back to GP I have been referred to see the breast clinic as an emergency I am still waiting 9 months later I’m in agony I use ibuprofen gel tablets I have come off the pill injection to see if that will help I’m taking evening primrose oil I have always had tender breasts and I have fibrodenomia in my right breast also which has flared up the last 2 weeks also. I think I’m just looking for some reassurance from someone I think waiting so long is making me worse it’s stopping me doing things in my day to day life if I can’t puck my daughter up on my left side it hurts so much and trying to exercise is just excruciating thanks I’m advance and sorry for the long rant

    Hi there ...

    I've got a feeling you've slipped through the cracks ... if I were you I'd get a quick appointment with your G P. . And tell them there is a two week refural for breast lumps ... it's way past two weeks .. hopefully they'll get you in quickly .. if not I'd make an official complaint ..

    Saying that 8.5 out of ten lumps are benign. .. so take heart and fingers crossed you'll be o.k .. but don't leave it or let them fob you off ... let us know how it goes ...  Chrissie  : ))

    I went back to GP yesterday for stronger pain relief and also she has sent yet again another letter to try and speed up the process in Wales at the moment the waiting times are beyond so fingers crossed I will get to see someone soon xx

    Hello Jaydel!

    Welcome to the forum! 

    Can I ask what part of Wales you’re in please? I’m in South Wales and as far as I’m aware the wait is 2 weeks. My appointment was exactly two weeks from my referral date. 

    I’m not sure if your age but as I’m 41 I had a mammogram,ultrasound and biopsy all done in the same appointment.

    Hi marie sorry for the late reply, 

    i was referred back in July 2018 back and forth to the GP for pain relief etc because it got worse over time there was a clerical error their end for a different catchment area hospital so apparently I had an apt in January I never knew about had to be re referred back by the GP I’m at the top of the list spoke to someone yesterday at Singleton hospital and the only advice or indication she could give me was it will be beginning to middle of May :( It’s just getting me down so much the pain at the moment I’m 28 years old and it’s getting in the way of my day to day life with my 19 month old xxx

    How are you feeling now? Hope the pain is a little better.

    It seems so unfair that you have to wait this long for an appointment. May seems a while away and waiting is always worrying! I’m just thinking maybe ring your gp and ask what the protocol is with referring breast patients and ask for advice on timescales,maybe he or she could prioritie you as urgent? I did find the NICE guidelines online one night, I’ll see if I can find them again for you. 

    You’re not far from me actually. I’m in Llanelli. I waited two weeks for my appointment and had the consultants opinion on the day. Biopsy results were expected within two weeks but I had them back before then. I do need an op to remove a benign rumour and that was even booked on the day.
