Referred to breast clinic

i saw my doctor 3 weeks ago as I thought I felt a change in my breast. Not so much a lump just something different. I’ve been very good at checking for years so knew something was different. She examined me and said there was definite ‘thickening’ and that it needed to be followed up. I spoke to her yesterday as I still have no appointment for the breast clinic only to be told it will possibly be another 3 weeks before I’m seen. I am trying not to worry but that is obviously easier said than done especially the longer things go on. I’m 52 and otherwise very fit and healthy. My mind is all over the place

  • I am in the same position, felt something was different, no lumps, breast tender, changed bras as thought he bone in bra was rubbing in, made no difference so went to see GP.  Breast feels and looks larger one side, and feels heavy.  GP has fast tracked my appointment and I have one in two weeks time. Terrified of the biopsies, can’t imagine needles going into my breast, I will never be able to keep, still.  I am over 70, so not exactly child bearing age for it to be mastitis.

  • I hope all is ok for you. I’ve got my appointments in now but not until 7th and 9th May. So I have a while to wait

  • I had the same recently with regards to waiting to be seen under the two week wait. I complained to PALs at the hospital and also contacted my GP to advise the hospital they’d referred me to couldn’t meet the guidelines of seeing me within two weeks and could they try elsewhere. They did try for me, but without luck.

in the end I was seen within 2 weeks and 2 days.

    good luck!
