Slight panic!

Hi,

I hope you dont think I'm just wasting your time with this question but I'm having a slight panic over a doctors letter after my smear test 2 weeks ago.

I had an abnormal smear last year and a colposcopy done, which came back as low risk and to be checked again this year, with the follow up colposcopy appointment to be may 2019.

I was sent a letter to go for another smear and like I said I did this 2 weeks ago and today I recieved a letter saying in view of new national recommendations my appointment at the colposcopy clinic has been cancelled and it was now recommended I contact my doctors to arrange an appointment with them.

The next appointment they have is in 2 weeks time which I've booked but I just wanted to ask on here whether this is normal procedure or whether I should prepare myself for bad news or even take someone with me to my appointment?

Any advice would be gratefully recieved!

Again sorry if this is not what the page is for but like I mentioned I'm having a panic and didnt know who or where to ask.

Thanks

Debbie xx

  • Hello Debbie and welcome to Cancer Chat

I don't think you can read anything into these recommendations so just go along to your appointment and if it reassures you to have company do take someone with you. Try not to panic as to what it all means and if you can, keep busy and distracted while waiting for your appointment. If you have any questions, perhaps you could get in touch with the hospital and ask whether they can tell you more about what this appointment is about and how best to prepare for it?

I hope you will chat soon to others here who have been in a similar situation.

    Best wishes,
