Testes Ultrasound complete, results apparently abnormal.

Hi all,

2 weeks ago I went for an ultrasound to check for testicular cancer (after finding some lumps and bumps I decided to get it checked out). When in the ultrasound, the two people conducting it stated that there was nothing to worry about and that they could only find some common cysts. They then mentioned I should call up to my local GP to book an appointment and get the results.

However, when calling up to book an appointment I was told that I could receive my results over the phone. I opted for this option, as I wanted to know as soon as possible weather or not it was good news. When I received my results, the operator stated that they were 'abnormal' and that I needed to book an appointment to see a doctor. The appointment is ages away, all the way at the end of april and I won't be able to attend. Should I be worried, abnormal sounds bad..

Thanks,

James

  • Hello James,

I am sorry to hear you have received abnormal results. It is a shame they were not able to give you an earlier appointment. I think only your doctor will be able to explain what this means in your particular case and I think it would be important for you to attend that appointment so that you can find out more. Is there any chance you can attend this appointment? Or if you are unable to make that date, do mention it so that they can change the appointment date for you to one that is more convenient. You may also be able to ask if you are away for example whether it might be possible to talk to a doctor on the phone instead - I am not sure whether this is an option at your surgery - but I think it is important you do speak to your doctor about these results.

I hope you find out more soon!

    Best wishes,
