Tests tonight

Hi just saying hi and telling my story so far. I'm 52 and after having a sort of period for over 6 weeks I saw a specialist last Friday only to be told I had an immovable lump in my bowel and am having an ultrasound and vaginal scan I think later today.

Ive had changed bowel habits for a while but no pain. Do keep getting indigestion though. I might have seen a bit of blood which I had checked out with a colonoscopy a few years ago but it was clear so thought I was ok. Also had scans for horrendous pain during my period which was also clear. The Doctor initially thought it might be fibroids but I haven't had heavy bleeding. As I have seen on here waiting for results is horrendous. I am not sleeping, shaking and crying intermittently.

I don't think I will find anything out tonight but am seeing the consultant tom so nearly there. I keep thinking why didn't she refer me for a colonoscopy straight away if she thinks it's my bowel but I suppose that will be next. I know worrying doesn't help but I am really struggling not to. Especially as I have now lost half a stone in about 3 weeks. Would appreciate any support. Thanks so much Amanda

  • Hello Amanda,

I just wanted to welcome you to the forum and I hope you will soon hear from others here who have had similar tests or been through a similar situation.

By now you will have had the ultrasound. I hope it went well for you and that your consultant appointment yesterday also provided some answers.

    Keeping everything crossed for you!

    Best wishes,
