18 found large lumps in both breasts

Hi I’m 18 and I’ve just found a few large odd lumps in both my breasts and I’m petrified. I’ve always sort of checked but never thoroughly and I stupidly took to google and now I’m scared sick. I’m not sure what to do but I’m also scared of what to do if I do have breast cancer. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

  • Hi Jessy ...

Please don't panic ... firstly if it's the first time you've really felt your boobs, it just may be they are normal for you ... and you know even those refured to breast clinic ... 8.5 out of 10 lumps are benign... and o.k .. my first four call backs from mamorgrams were all clear ... l just had nateral lumpy boobs ... so those odds are pretty good ...

Then the odds of someone your age having breast cancer is very rare ... not impossible ... but really rare ..so if l were you I'd get an appointment with your G.p ... a lady Dr if you feel more comfortable ... as every lump needs checking ... but even if you are sent for tests it's more then likely to reashore that it's o.k ..

Let us know how it goes ... Chrissie x

  • Hello,

I have a very large mass in my right breast under the skin the dr in the breast clinic drew round the area he could feel the lump & it was basically a third of my breast - another thing it didn’t feel easily moveable (dr google will have you convinced this must be sinister) & redness of the skin - got it checked today & it was absolutely nothing - nothing sinister looking in the ultrasound at all! So please do not go on google I made myself ill with google & it turned out to be over nothing at all. So I hope my experience puts you a little at ease.

Not to mention most breast lumps are benign - the mass majority are benign & the percentage of breast cancer in girls your age is very low.

The best thing you can do is go to your GP & have them take a look - they will most likely refer you to the breast clinic but don’t panic about this this is just precautionary it doesn’t necessarily mean they think it is sinister but better to get it checked for your own peace of mind

    Good Luck x
