Think I have lung cancer

Hello everyone just made this account to ask for opinions, I’m 19 and I smoked for 2/3 years but have stopped now around November I started getting an ache on the left side of my chest if would last a few seconds and then go and this would happen on and off a few times a day, I’m a very paranoid person so my first thought was cancer I pushed it to the back of my head for a bit but ended going to the doctors and they said my chest sounded clear and sent me for a chest x ray which came back clear too anyway a few months on and this is still happening it’s an on and off pain and it’s jusr beside my middle chest bone on the left side I do have a smokers cough kind of but only when I make myself cough my phlegm has tiny brown dots in it which when I look at them close are more like dark green I have no pains breathing In laughing etc I went to the go last week again and they said my chest sounded fine could this be anything else or could it be cancer

  • Hello, if you’ve been to the doctors and they’ve been positive I’d take this as a good reassurance. Lung cancer would be very unual in someone your age, my dad had it and he was 55 but was a heavy smoker and also had other illnesses with his lungs and breathing so try not to worry. If it keeps happening maybe go back to your gp and explain that you’re worried about cancer, they’ll be able to reassure you more than me :)
