Very large ovarian cyst

Hi

I am on a bit of a roller-coaster of emotion. 5 days ago I had an ultra sound where they discovered a very large ovarian cyst (18x18x10cm)

I had a hysterectomy 3 years ago but they left my ovaries so I didn't go into menopause, I am only 43 now so was 40 at the time.

I am just panicking now about what this could be, I have been referred as an urgent case which can take up to 2 weeks, I know this is quick but I feel like it's taking forever . I don't really know what I am asking of you good people, I think I just want some reassurance which I know you can't give.

I keep thinking the worst, and like I say my emotions are all over the place.

Would be grateful for any advice. TIA xx

  • Hello Rachel96,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long to be seen and to get some answers. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting for these important results.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Rachel96 , I have just seen your post I too have had a hysterectomy with ovaries left in about 18 years ago , a week ago having experiencing some left lower abdo pain I was sent for emergency USS and a mass of unknown origin 20x20x16 cm was noted . I'm on a 2 week wait and should know this week what is happening .

The wait I think is the worst part and I too am trying to stay calm but it is difficult .  I am wishing you all the best

  • Hi Fiona

I know exactly how you are feeling right now, the waiting is the worst part, my emotions were all over the place, however the 2 week system has worked very well for me and I hope it does for you too. Try not to think about what it could be and put your trust in the professionals, they have all been so good to me and always kind.

Unfortunately I didn't receive good news however I am feeling positive and am booked in for surgery in just over a week.

Wishing you all the best, take care xxx
