Uterus problems - any feedback welcome

Hi I feel so sick with worry, and also a little embarrassed for even posting on here considering the amount of women that have real problems and here’s me worrying over possibly nothing.

I’m 33yrs old and have been visiting my gp for the past 12months regarding problems with my periods
-spotting mid cycle
-significantly heavier
-more painful

Last July he sent me for a smear test, they also checked for any infections, all came back clear so he was happywith that. Last November I returned to him again still unhappy with all the same problems so he has put me on a waiting list to see a gynecologist as I don’t have health insurance. I visited again last month as my period was so bad and he sent me as a private patient for an ultrasound. I had it done on day 14 of my cycle

Those results were as follows
Thickening endometrium 20.4 mms of uncertain etiology and enlarged uterus 249ccs with no fibroids.

My gp says it’s nothing to worry about, considering that my smear was clear and had said he’ll forward the ultrasound results on to the gynecologist that I’m on the waiting list for.

i know it’s probably nothing and the worst thing you can do is to google your symptoms, but of course I did and now I’m sick with worry. Even though my doctor has told me it’s nothing to worry about.

Many feedback would be much appreciated

  • hi,

totally not a dr or medical in anyway but I’m kind of in the same boat!

im 27, have had continuous bleeding for about 6 months. When it first started I had my smear brought forward a couple of months and it showed a small erosion which they froze and the bleeding died down a little. But since New Years it’s come back with a vegance. The other day I got changed walked 15 mins to train station had the worst back ache and leaked through the pad... not fun in public!

Anyway i I got sent for ultrasound and yesterday got a call saying they had a cancellation today so I went along. They did a pelvic ultrasound which was quite sore when he pressed down. Then he said he needed more detail so did a transactional ultrasound. He said to expect results within a week. I was trying to read the guys expressions whilst he was doing it but didn’t help lol

i spose it’s just a waiting game now but I’m still worried. I mean I’m 27 so chancers of gynae cancers are slim (cervix already being ruled out) but I also have a lot .org other risk factors like obesity, never having children, not taking the pill etc

the way way I see it is whatever is there is already there, best thing to do is to find out and deal with it.

Anyway sorry gor for the long post that was probably of no use or even comforting to you in anyway I’m so sorry, I just wanted to let you know you’re not on your own!
