Lump in Hairline - advice needed

Around Christmas time I discovered a lump at the top of my neck but in my hair it was the size of a 5p.  I went to my doctor who thought it was a lump in lymph node as I had just had a cold she said to monitor it to see if it went down.  A month later I went back to the doctors as the lump had not gone down and they arranged for me to have an ultra-sound she then said she thought it was a cyst.  I have had the ultra-sound and it came back as inconclusive as they could not see anything however they said it is nothing nasty as they cannot find anything on the ultra-sound but the lump has now grown to the size of a 1p.  I have gone back to the doctors and they are going to do a full blood count and also a thyroid test as I have a ping-pong ball size swelling in the lower front of my throat as well.  The doctors said as the lump is the small they would not worry about it.  Would a blood test pick up if there is anything nasty going on with this lump or should I push for more tests as my doctors as a little dismissive of it.

Thanks

  • Hi RF1278 and welcome to the forum.

I can see you've made a similar post in our ask the nurses section of the forum so hopefully they will be able to give you a bit more insight in to the medical side of things but do be sure to talk to your doctor about this and the possibility of having more tests if you feel it would put your mind at ease.

Fingers crossed our members who have been in similar situations will be along soon to offer their support and advice but don't be afraid of joining in on any discussions which are similar to your own if you'd like to chat to others about this.

    Kind regards,
