Colposcopy and lletz

Hi,

Sorry in advance for a long post.

I'm 27 with 3 children and 3 step children (1,3,10,10,19,21)

Last year march was my first smear, my results came back as high grade HPV and I was invited back for a yearly smear but no colp referral by Blackpool NHS.

I moved recently and my follow up smear this Feb was done at a new surgery. The nurse was annoyed that Blackpool hadn't referred me for colposcopy.

I got my results within 2 weeks with an appointment for colposcopy the following week. This time it showed high grade (severe) dyskaryosis.

At my colposcopy appointment the doctor performed loop excursion. I suffer anxiety but she advised against me waiting for treatment under a sedative.

They also found endometriosis of the cervix at the appointment.

Does anybody have experience of recovery with endo? My symptoms so far have only been pain and bleeding during and after sex but cramp and pain my entire pelvis since my treatment on wednesday morning is almost unbearable.

Also does anybody have experience of wait time for biopsy results in North Manchester?

I feel like I'm in a bubble just floating through the days since getting my smear results.

I'm not expecting the worst, but waiting for any kind of information or answers is a nightmare for me with anxiety.

In relation to the endometriosis, gp doesn't seem to want to investigate or treat as I have the mirena coil despite it causing problems with intimacy and daily activities a day or 2 following being intimate. Where do I stand on this?

Thanks in advance for any replies

  • Hello Aimee,

I am sorry you have been going through such a stressful time. It is normal to want answers at this stage but the best thing to do in your situation is to perhaps go back to your GP or perhaps if you feel that things are not being investigated properly, you can seek a second opinion. You can find out how to do this here. Only a doctor will be able to diagnose you and help you move things in the right direction.

Do mention to your doctor that you have been experiencing problems with the coil and they will be able to look into this for you. As for the waiting times for the biopsy results, if you are worried it might be worth giving the hospital a call and asking how long these tend to take to come through.

I hope you get the reassurance you need very soon.

    Best wishes,
