Ovarian Dermoid Cyst- Pain worsening

Im 25 and I have bleeding constantly with the occasional few days break when I’m lucky since November so 4, almost 5 months. Also been suffering with pelvic pain on my right side but not too badly as it was just a dull pain, almost like a slight ache on my right side.. So when it turned out I had a cyst on my right ovary it all seemed to make sense.

I was diagnosed in January and was then transfererd  to referral to a gynaecologist for an urgent scan. They say urgent but with a 3 month gap inbetween both scans. Since then the pelvic pain has been getting worse. It’s constantly there as it was before however I seem to be getting these sudden sharp pains more frequently as time goes on. I told the doctor but it didn’t go anywhere.  I have also been diagnosed with depression which can be triggered through periods.. so after being on a period for such a long time it’s been becoming harder to cope. I’m feeling run down with the constant pain, physical and emotionally and it’s sadly impacting my relationship and work in a negative way.

Im wondering if any of you lovely ladies have some advise or recommendations to help me? Wheather it’s how to speed things up with the NHS or to just help bare the day to day life until it finally gets sorted. Any advise will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you x

  • Hello Oowyram1,

I hope you will hear from some of our lovely ladies here who have been diagnosed with an ovarian dermoid cyst. I've had a little look on the forum for you and found this thread where other ladies like [@Niknakjm][@Dexter12][@antshi]‍ and more recently [@Beth1967]‍ who have had an ovarian dermoid cyst have commented and shared their story.

I think because the pain has been getting worse recently and it is having such a negative effect on your life and wellbeing, it might be a good idea to go back to your GP or ask to speak to someone else in order to have a second opinion. You can find out more about this here

I hope you don't have to wait too long to see the gynaecologist and to have this urgent scan.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you for your reply! The thread has been rather comforting to read and to know there are others in the same situation.

    All the best x
