Lumps under arm.. Please help!!

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if someone would be able to give me some advice.

Im 20 and over a year ago now i found 2 lumps under my arm, it was painful and i went to the doctors and she said she couldn't feel anything. The lumps come and go and one is painful.

Now I have 3 lumps, they are quite small, around pea size, one is painful and the other two are not painful and they are all very hard and can't really move them. I went to the doctors again recently with swelling under my arm as well as the lumps, she said she could not feel any lumps and the swelling was muscular.

I can only feel all 3 lumps when my arm is raised above my head, when my arm is down by my side i can only feel one mobile one. I'm just so worried and frustrated because both doctors i have seen now have said they can't feel anything but i can! and when i put my symptoms into google all it comes up with is that i have cancer! i can't sleep i'm so scared but everyone is telling me i am fine!

I know no one on here is a doctor but can i please have some advice on if this sounds really bad and what i should do next?

thank you :(

  • Hello poppyr923,

I can appreciate that it must be worrying for you if you don’t feel that your problems are being diagnosed properly.  Unfortunately, as you said we cannot help you get a diagnosis and only a doctor can diagnose you.  It's great that you have seen the doctor about it and that you have shown this to two doctors already and it must be frustrating for you that that they cannot feel what you yourself have felt. To put your mind completely at rest, you may want to consider getting a third final opinion. You can find out more about this here. Doctors are experts at diagnosing these things but the one doctor you absolutely cannot trust is Dr Google so do stay away from Google as whatever symptoms you type in on a search engine it will have a tendency to bring up the worst possible case scenarios.

I hope you find the reassurance you need so do go and talk to a real doctor about it and avoid looking things up online as it will only make you feel worse.

    Best wishes,
