waiting for biopsy results after hysteroscopy

hi i had an hysteroscopy  last week as I have been having pelvic pain  which sometimes feels like pressure pushing down then other times a throbbing.  anyway i started bleeding very heavy   that I was taken to hospital  i had an internal scan   which detected a fibroid and a polyp  they said i need a hysteroscopy  to investigate further when i had that done  after the consultant  said that my womb was smooth one side but very rough  the other he took a biopsy  and said that he can't say what it is until results but that they will be  checking for cancer i am going out my mind waiting.

  • Hello loopylou67,

I can understand that waiting can be horrible, but I hope the results go ok. Just in case, you might like this page here which has some useful tips.

Hopefully it helps and all the best,

  • I rang hospital my results have been back since the 13th of March. I spoke to consultants secretary and she can't tell me results as consultant hasn't looked at them yet they have been sitting on his desk for a week and he still hasn't looked I have been so stressed with worry still in pain every day how can they treat people like this
  • Hi Loopylou67, Hope you have got your results now? Hope everything ok.x  I have got a hysteroscopy/biospy on 26th march, im proper scared and worried. How was it for you? And how did you feel afterwards. Getting quite anxious about it now. My nurse wanted me to have 1 or 2 weeks off work, is that really necessary, only got two days off to rest, when nurse heard i only had 2 days off, she didnt look too happy. What can i do when i cant afford to be off. Sorry for the long message, just nice to talk to someone who has gone through the hysteroscopy already. Thankyou in advance.

  • Hi I have one tomorrow, I was ok but now I am feeling very nervous are you going to be awake ? I am as I want this growth thing sorted ASAP and didn’t want to wait another month for a general anaesthetic

  • hi Murray 71 I am still waiting for results   the procedure its self wasn't painful it was uncomfortable and I had cramping pains after     I went to work next day. but just made sure I took it easy.    if u are having a polyp  removed they can do that while u have the  procedure they couldn't do mine as they couldn't get to it as one side of my womb was very rough. why they took biopsy  which I am hoping I get results  this week as it's been 3 weeks now.   good luck with your appointment let me know how it goes x

  • Hi everyone I have an appointment to get a polyp removed by hysteroscopy procedure 10th April. Slightly nervous now about the procedure and then it’s the waiting on the results. I have had no symptoms at all, the polyp was discovered when I had a scan done investigating pelvic pain but that pain has now settled but I think they still need to remove the polyp and do a biopsy. Please god you all get the results you want to hear.

  • It was very painful, maybe just my anatomy as I know others have been ok under local . No polyp but very thick womb lining and the surgeon fitted a coil. They didn’t say much, just have to wait for the results now !!

  • hi sorry to hear it was painful. hope u get results quickly. I rang hospital again today as I know they have had results back since 13th still no one can tell what results are consultants secretary  now on annual leave no one seemed  to  know  where consultant  was just got passed from one dept to another all I want is results of biopsy  so if clear move on to next step of what's causing pain

  • Goodness, you must be very frustrated. Perhaps you could speak to the hospital PALS team, (Patient advice and liaison service.) They can help find information for you.

  • I wouldn’t be happy with that ! Ask to speak to the head of the surgical department. That’s not on leaving you worrying all that time !!
