22 suspicious fibroadneoma

Hi!

I was just hoping for a little advice and perhaps something to take my mind off worrying about yesterday’s events and my results.

I am 22, six weeks ago I noticed a small, fixed hard lump in my right breast. I thought it was hormonal or maybe just a small cyst. Fast forward, to take my mind off worrying I went to the GP twice! Finally I was referred to the breast  unit in a local hospital.

3 weeks later (yesterda/ Tuesday) my appointment day arrived, I went into see the specialist, she performed an exam and stated that she thinks it is a benign lump and will send me for a scan that day. I was called in for my scan which was an ultrasound, the lady performing the ultrasound was great, she asked me if the doctor had mentioned a Fibroadneoma and I said no, she just said she felt it was benign at that point. The radiographer said ok, well I am going to take a biopsy we will send it off and hopefully it will come back all clear.

Three biopsoes later, (that was sore) I went back into the initial consultation room with the consultant and she said, they think it is a fribroadeoma, but she is cannot not sure as the lump is not smooth, but rather had jagged/rough edges, so they have aired on the side of caution and that is why they ended up doing a biopsy.

She said my results will be back by Thursday, and she wants to see me on Thursday to discuss my results with me in the afternoon. I am now back at the hospital tomorrow!

I am trying to keep my worries at bay, I thought it was only a scan, but then the biopsies were decided to be done. The fibroadeoma isn’t smooth, however I’m sure these things can just react differently to everyone’s body and maybe have different shapes and not be as smooth as others? I’m not sure!

Has anyone ever had a ‘abnormal’ looking fibroadneoma? And is me being called back in two days normal?

Thankyou to to anyone who in advanced will reply to me!

  • Hi JC23,

I am 39 and for the last 6-8 weeks I’ve been getting a strange sensation in my left arm and felt like my breast on the left was different. I couldn’t feel a lump as such but it did feel strange. My arm and armpit would feel sort of numb intermittently.

I went to my GP just over 2 weeks ago and he couldn’t feel anything. I asked to be referred anyway. I had my appt on Monday this week and my consultant could feel what I was talking about. He said that he would contact me again in 2 weeks to arrange a scan.

There’s no way on this planet I could wait for 2 weeks so I booked to go private. I had my appt yesterday afternoon.

So I had an ultrasound scan which showed a mass towards my chest wall in my left breast. The scan was inconclusive so I had a Mammogram. That didn’t show the mass at all as it’s too far back but did show small specs of calcium in both breasts. I then had 3 biopsy samples taken. I’m a bit sore today and my left arm aches like mad.

I have been told to try and not worry (yeah right!) and I should hear back by Friday. My consultant is going to call me. I spoke to his secretary today and she said it may not be until next week!

I have a 19 month old son and I’m trying to be normal but it’s so hard!

I wish I was going back in within 2 days.

Wishing you all the luck in the world. You will be fine.

    Sending hugs x

  • Hi Dwood,

Oh dear! I really hope you are okay! It’s just so difficult and can be scary I’ve found!

I agree it is really hard not to worry, that’s all I feel like I am doing. It’s hard waiting, in all honesty the short time I have to wait is making me more nervous!

My my right arm and breast is so sore today, I have some bruising to from the biopsy! Those things aren’t great!

Thankyou for your your kind words! I really hope you will be ok when you finally get your results!

Big hugs back to you too! Fingers are crossed for you!
