Little advice needed

Hi,

I had CIN2 removed July last year and was told in my results letter that I got in October to have a follow up smear in 6 months. I made the appointment and have been to my Dr’s surgery today to get it done by the nurse who has informed me that even though the colposcopy department sent me a letter to have a follow up smear done because it is not due until May I cannot have it done I have to wait until I have had my ‘invite’ from the surgery or else they will just throw it out and it could damage my cervix if I have it done too early.

Any advice on this would be gratefully received

  • Hello Land71,

Welcome to our forum. I think perhaps the best thing to do if you are feeling confused about the advice that has been given to you would be to ask to talk to a doctor, perhaps ask for a second opinion on this just to be absolutely sure about the timeframe. You can find out more about this here.

I hope this helps and that you do find out more about this very soon. Hopefully you will also hear from some of our other members who may have been in a similar situation before.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi, I had more cells removed last year, the second time I’ve had cin2 and cin3 removes. The colposcopist advises me that I would get my letter in January to have my smear but advised me to wait until March... i got told that having it when I got the letter could give a inaccurate test :/ waiting a few more months is best. tbh I don’t see why they bothered sending one out two months before if that was the case. But I wouldn’t worry too much. Could be the same as what I got told. Just thought I’d let you know. If your completely unsure give the colposcopist that removed your cells a call to double check xx
