Feel like the protagonist in a Kafka story

Posting here to vent...

I was referred for an ultrasound for possible Lymphoma at the end of Jan (symptoms: lumps on neck, itching, spots on neck and back, difficulty breathing, spots of blood under skin, nosebleeds, plus my tonsils/throat are pretty nasty and I spit out blood when I brush my teeth)

Yesterday I called up the hospital (which was a struggle itself to find the right person and wait through all the holding) to see if I could change the notification from letter to text as I'm not going to be at my University term time address for the next few weeks, only to find they didn't have my referral...

So I went to my GP practice today and found out today that although it had been sent off it was an email instead of fax and hadn't been picked up by the hospital. Suffice to say I was devastated.

However, they've asked the hospital to handle it as if it was referred at the end of Feb, so hopefully I won't have to wait another 6 weeks because I'm not sure I could bear that wait.

Not feeling too confident about the scan but I guess there's not much I can do except wait

  • Hi Anon9865,

Welcome to the forum and I hope you find it a useful place to write your thoughts and feelings. We have a welcoming community here and no doubt others will have been through a similar situation.

These things can be frustrating but it's good that you were proactive in following up with this and also that the hospital will be handling it as if it was referred at the end of February. Fingers crossed for you that you will find out soon and that you won't have too long to wait.

Often the waiting and the uncertainty is the hardest part. Do feel free to browse the forum to see if any similar topics have been posted, otherwise hopefully some others will be along soon to offer any words of encouragement.

    Wishing you the best.
