Found a lump in my breast.

Hi,

Im 23 years old. Just wanting some reassurance more than anything. Well about the beginning of January I started getting sore boobs I presumed it was to do with the ortho evra contraceptive patch I have been on it since August 2016. Last year felt a lump but the doctor said it was fatty tissue and it went away boobs also felt heavy as if I was pregnant if that makes any sense. Then 4 days ago I felt a lump (happend to find it as I had my arm up) in my right breast sore to touch if I wear a bra as its pressing on the lump, also my nipples were super sensitive couldnt touch as it was sore, it feels different to how it did last year. I went to the doctors and she comfirmed it was a lump and she said she will try and refer me to the breast clinic but because of my age I may not be able to. My corncern is not really cancer as I know 9/10 it isnt breast cancer but I am worried because I think I may of had the lump since January 2019 keeping wondering what it could be? Just wondering has anybody been anything similar and if so what was the outcome.

  • Heya,

Yeah I bet it cant hun, it's always best to get the day done and done with, I think then you know you can stop worrying a little.

The ultrasound is great at viewing single lumps, like the one you have found, it's more of a diagnostic tool than anything, but they'll be able to see everything they need to on there. With mammograms, the reason they use those as regular breast screening, is because that gives them an image of the whole breast to view, so in cases where a lump hasn't been picked up by someone, the mammogram will show it to their radiographer. But you're safe with an ultrasound, just get ready to feel jelly all the way home, because they dont wipe the jelly off very well at all Haha!

Honestly, I dont think theres one hospital appointment I've been to where I've been seen on time! Haha. But I always think that obviously means they're thorough and have patience and time for people, so that's a good thing. Thank you, my mum is currently kicking chemos ***, and her lump has literally gone, so she's kicking cancers *** too! Haha.

I completely agree with you there hun, girls are definitely sometimes better for these things, I think it's because a girl can relate so much and see it happening to themselves so they can be there for you much more. As long as you've got someone there with you, and mainly someone to natter to so you aren't sat waiting on your own! Haha.

Good luck for your date, although I'm sure you dont need it. Lots of love,

    Alexia xxx
