Hi all, new to this forum so hoping I've posted in the right place!
I visited my GP last year on numerous occasions due to severe pelvic pain related to my menstrual cycle. I've always had irregular periods but until last year hadn't had any real problems.
I have one son who was conceived naturally and we've been trying for #2 for 2yrs now.
My last smear was 2yrs ago (normal) but last year I requested a repeat after having unusual spotting/discharge for 4 cycles and pain during sex. My GP explained that "there was no point".
Not getting anywhere with my GP (who tried to put me back on the birth control pill this January, despite us trying to conceive), I paid for a private gyny scan. They found that my ovaries were enlarged, a few cysts but not enough to diagnose PCOS (my hormones have also been checked and are normal). No signs of endometriosis. I've had the Ca125 blood test which was "within range".
But they did find what she thought was a cyst on my cervix and reported that I would need to see a specialist to get it checked.
I took the report to my GP who immediately put through a referral to a Gynaecologist in the NHS. I asked again about a smear and he said "let's see what the Gynaecologist says". My gyny appointment isn't until mid April.
I have checked my cervix and can feel the hard, pea sized lump. It has grown slightly since January. It feels sore but has never burst or caused any bleeding. I've had no spotting or periods since last November.
Over the last few weeks I've felt really wiped out, had trouble emptying my bladder/going frequently and I've had an upset stomach (can't seem to keep anything in).
I wondered if anyone has experienced anything similar and whether it's normal for the GP to be so relaxed about this sort of thing? I've been in a state of panic since January!
When I found a lump in my breast a few years back, they referred me urgently to be checked as there's a history of breast cancer in my family (all was okay) and I couldn't fault them. But this time I feel really on edge with the waiting.
Any advice would be appreciated x
