Moderate high grade dyskaryosis not showing at colposcopy?

So I had a cervical smear test of Feb 5th which came back as showing high grade (moderate) dyskaryosis on my sample. Yesterday I had my colposcopy however she could see no signs of any abonormal cells she has taken a biopsy and sent that away for testing to be sure. Has anyone had this before? What was the outcome?

  • Hey :)

I've recently had the same thing although, I'm still none the wiser and I don't really have an answer for you...! I had my smear at the beginning of January 2019 and received the same results as you. At my colposcopy, my consultant said that my cervic looked normal so was unsure what to do. He didn't want to do a biopsy at the time; he said because of my age (i'm 25), he didn't want to perform any unnecessary tests yet. He said he was going to go back to his team, possibly review my smear slides and get back to me.

I received a text yesterday saying I've got another hospital appointment this friday but I've not got a letter yet explaining what's happening so I can only assume it's about my smear. My feeling is that they'll possibly do a cone biopsy and take a sample from the entire edge of my cervix but we'll see.

Sorry it's not an answer but I wanted you to know I'm in the same boat! Hopefully after my appointment on Friday, I'll be able to give you more :) x

  • So strange isn't it. The nurse who did my colposcopy seemed baffled. She said if the biopsy comes back clear they will go back and look at my smear to see if someone's made an error. I'm 29 but I've had 2 kids so don't think they are so bothered about doing biopsys lol just felt like all that worry I got there and she said you know I fully expect to see something and ill do the LLETZ procedure. But didn't need to as it looked healthy.
