LOOP/LLETZ results

Hi everyone,

I hope I am posting to the right place! Earlier today I had a LOOP procedure after being diagnosed (I guess?) with CIN3 after a recent colposcopy.

The intial letter i I got from the NHS doctor (diagnosing the CIN3) said there was “no evidence of cancer, which is very reassuring” in the letter I received.

For various reasons, I decided to get the loop procedure done privately. The doctor was lovely and said I would get my results back in 2-3 weeks. She wants me to come in to get my results, instead of sending a letter.

I suppose my question is - is this normal? I’ve only ever heard of bad news been given in person, can my doctor already tell if I have cervical cancer?

I’m 25 years old and this was the result of my first smear. I’m so nervous about everything and feel very vulnerable at the moment.

I really appreciate any advice!

  • Hi there,

I'd like to welcome you to the forum and it's good to hear there was no evidence of cancer after your colonoscopy, but I can totally understand that you would be nervous about getting your results from the Loop precedure. Good news can be given in person also, but the waiting can still be horrible. Here is some information to help you feel less nervous.

Best of luck with the results,
